Land Acknowledgment

We would like to acknowledge that our library branches are located on the Treaty Land and Territory of The Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, as well as the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat peoples, who have cared for this land since time immemorial. We also recognize and honour the many First Nation, Métis, and Inuit people from across Turtle Island (North America) who now call Brampton their home.

Our acknowledgment reflects our deep respect and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's calls to action, and to promoting Indigenous rights. Guided by our vision, "Inspiring Connections," we strive to build an inclusive community by inspiring learning, literacy, and social cohesion. We are committed to giving back by sharing information, educating, and raising awareness within our community, ensuring that the stories, histories, and voices of Indigenous peoples are heard and respected.

As residents, neighbours, partners, and caretakers, we recognize that we must do more to understand the rich history of this land, and our roles within it. With curiosity and collaboration at the heart of our values, we pledge to continue our journey of learning, reflecting on our past, and working in allyship with Indigenous communities.

We are honoured to live, work on, and enjoy these lands, and we commit to fostering connections that honour the past and build a better future for all.
