Heart Health Series - Her Heart Matters

Did you know it's the number one killer of women over 35 worldwide, accounting for more deaths every year than all cancers combined? Join Canadian Women Heart Health Centre for an important presentation on how heart disease in women can be prevented.

 

Heart Health Series - Fostering heart health: fibre-rich diet and exercise

Date: Tuesday, February 7, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Location: Springdale Branch

Join the Sun Life | Osler Healthy Active Living Initiative team to discover the heart health benefits of a fibre-rich diet and physical activity in this interactive presentation, led by trained instructors. This interactive lesson will teach you how to find ways to add more fibre into your diet, and the importance of exercise on heart health and also includes a heart-pumping exercise demonstration and a healthy high-fibre food sample with an easy-to-follow recipe. 

 

Heart Health Series - Heart health cooking workshop

Date: Wednesday, February 8, 2 - 3 p.m

Location: Virtual

Join us for a virtual cooking workshop with LMC Healthcare as they walk participants through how to prepare foods that will enhance heart health. In this session, you will have the opportunity to learn about healthy choices, such as the use of specific spices, which will help in preventing heart disease and diabetes.

Location: Chinguacousy branch

Taking care of our hearts: signs and symptoms of heart disease and healthy eating

Understand the different signs and symptoms of heart disease and the different types of heart disease. Learn about how to take care of your heart, from physical exercise and healthy foods. Everyone is welcome to attend, though this session will be geared toward seniors. This program is in partnership with WellFort Community Health Services.
