Giant tic tac toe is a fun spin on a classic game! The first team to get three in a row wins, but you can mix it up with a tossing challenge and relay ideas to add even more excitement. All pieces are durable yet flexible, making it easy for all ages to play.

Seasonal Activity Kits are offered in partnership with Brampton Recreation and with generous support from the JumpStart Community Development Grant.

Game Setup

Giant tic tac toe can be played on a flat surface such as concrete, bare ground or grass. Place the 4 polyvinyl pieces on the ground to create the tic tac toe board. 

For a relay setup, mark a starting line about 20 feet away from the board. Increase the distance from the starting line to the board for older players, decrease the distance for younger players.

If you have enough players for 2 equal teams. One team gets X’s, the other gets O’s. 

Both teams line up behind the starting line.

How to Play

We start the game with a signal - on your mark, get set, go! 

At the signal, 1 player from each team races to the play area with an X or O in hand. 

The player that gets to the board first places their letter down first. The other player gets to place their letter after the first player. Both return to the line. 

Another signal gets called out, and the next two players race to the board with an X or O in hand. Play continues until a team wins (see below) or the game is considered a draw.

Scoring

The first team to place 3 markers in a row (either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) wins!

Action! ThreeQuence is available for pickup at Chinguacousy Branch Library. All seasonal activity kits are non-holdable and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend checking availability before you visit the library.

How long can I keep this kit? 

You can borrow Action! ThreeQuence for seven (7) days. Please keep in mind that we are unable to provide loan renewals or extensions for this kit. We appreciate your co-operation in returning this kit in a timely manner.

Where can I return this kit?

Action! ThreeQuence can be returned during operational hours to Chinguacousy Branch Library. You will need to return the kit in person to library staff at the customer service desk.
